RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES – December 12, 2013
The December meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, December 12,
2013 at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Ken Punter. Members present were: Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny
Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle, Trustee; Bruce Yonker, Trustee; Ken Punter, Supervisor; and Greg Crowley,
Fire Chief. Pledge to the Flag was led by Fire Chief Crowley. Prayer was said by Clerk Penny Sherman.
Motion by Patterson, support by Yonker to approve agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Yonker, support by
Sherman to approve the minutes from the Regular Township Board Meeting held November 14, 2013.
Motion carried.
Public Comments: None.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Assessor: Board of Review was held on December 10th. Three items were addressed.
Fire Board: Call Report: 4 Wire Down, 3 Fires (1 Moorland), 1 P.I. Accident and 10 Medicals. Thermostat
in the big truck bay needs to be repaired. Training is being completed by new Fire Fighters. SANTA
CLAUS will be coming to the Ravenna Fire Station on Saturday, December 14, 2014 from 10:00 a.m.
– 12:00 p.m. People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits.
Address signs will be $20.00 and may be purchased by contacting the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.
PLEASE KEEP HYDRANTS SHOVELED AND CLEAR.
Building Inspector: Patterson spoke about problems with inspectors not coordinating temporary final
occupancy inspections.
Zoning Administrator: ZA has sent two letters to residence regarding possible Ordinance violations.
Museum/Library: Everything is going good. Library will be closed on December 12-15th and reopen on
the 16th. They will be moved into the new expansion at this time and the existing library remodeling will
begin.
Cemetery: Everything is going fine.
Planning Commission: Did not meet.
Chamber of Commerce: Sherman, Patterson, Hoyle and Yonker attended the Chamber Christmas Party.
New Business: Sherman gave an updated budget report and everything is going fine. Patterson gave an
updated Library renovation budget report and everything looks good and proceeding as scheduled.
Unfinished Business: None.
Treasurer’s Report: Patterson presented Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Hoyle, support by Sherman to
pay all bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
Other: Punter reported that several road signs are missing throughout the township. Sherman will contact
Wilde Signs to get a price on replacing them. Thank you cards were received from Ken Punter and Randy
& Diane Landheer.
Public Comment: None.
Motion by Hoyle, support by Punter to Adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:19 p.m.
