RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES – February 13, 2014

The February meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Ken Punter.  Members present were: Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle, Trustee;  Bruce Yonker, Trustee; Ken Punter, Supervisor; Greg Crowley, Fire Chief and 1 guest.  Pledge to the Flag was led by Clerk Penny Sherman.  Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle.  Motion by Hoyle, support by Patterson to approve the minutes from the Regular Township Board Meeting held January 9, 2014 and Special Meeting held January 24, 2014.  Motion carried.  Motion by Patterson, support by Yonker to approve Agenda with two additions (Spring Clean-up and Road Commission Seminar).

COMMITTEE REPORTS

:

Assessor:

Board of Review will be held on March 10th and March 11th.

Fire

Board: Call Report: 7 Medicals, 1 P.I. and 5 Fires (1 assist to Egelston and 1 assist to Moorland). Run total for 2013 was 171.  Annual Fire Department Bowling Tournament was very successful.  Chief Crowley stated that some of the Firemen were interested in purchasing a light for their vehicle.  Motion by Patterson, support by Sherman to pay up to $150.00 per light for each full fledged firemen to purchase for their vehicle once every 10 years.  Motion carried.  Jeremy Wiltenburg will now be listed as 1st Corporal.  All trucks have been serviced.  People interested in a burn permit may go the web site:

 

www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits.   Address signs will be $20.00 and may be purchased by contacting the Township Hall at 231-853-6205. PLEASE KEEP HYDRANTS SHOVELED AND CLEAR.

Building Inspector:

Ken Punter will be meeting with Ed Field to discuss fee schedules.

Zoning

Administrator: None.

Museum/Library

: The Library Expansion is 90% complete.  The Open House will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be served.

Cemetery:

Motion by Sherman, support by Patterson to pay plowing bill for January in the amount of $600.00.  Motion carried.

Planning Commission

: Did not meet.  Planning Commission will meet on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.

Chamber of Commerce:

Patterson, Hoyle, Landheer and Punter attended.

New Business

: Zoning Administration of township was discussed and a joint meeting with the Planning Commission will be held on March 6, 2014.   Planning Commission will meet on April 3, 2014 to discuss the Master Plan.  Spring Clean-up is set for Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and no tires, batteries or freon will be allowed.  Scrap metal will also be collected.  Supervisor Punter attended a seminar regarding a county road millage and options available to townships.

Treasurer

s Report

: Patterson presented Treasurer’s Report.  Motion by Sherman, support by Hoyle to pay all bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion carried. 

Other:

Sherman presented election inspectors for the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District  Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal Election to be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.  Motion by Hoyle, support by Punter to appoint: Sonja Patterson, June Grover, Edna Krueger and Penny Sherman as Election Inspectors.  Motion carried.  Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
