The March meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Ken Punter.  Members present were: Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle, Trustee;  Bruce Yonker, Trustee; Ken Punter, Supervisor; and Greg Crowley, Fire Chief.  Pledge to the Flag was led by Trustee Bruce Yonker.  Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle.  Motion by Yonker, support by Patterson to approve the minutes from the Regular Township Board Meeting held February 13, 2014 and Special Meeting held March 6, 2014.  Motion carried.  Motion by Yonker, support by Hoyle to approve Agenda as presented.

Public Comments: None.


Assessor: Board of Review was held March 10th and March 11th.   Twenty-five people attended.

Fire Board: Call Report: 6 Medicals, 1 P.I. and 4 Fires (2 assist to Moorland and 1 assist to Casnovia). Purchase agreement needs to be filled out and submitted for the lights.  Firemen will be hosting the Fish Fry at St. Catherines on Friday, March 21st.  People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits.   Address signs will be $20.00 and may be purchased by contacting the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.  PLEASE KEEP HYDRANTS SHOVELED AND CLEAR.

Building Inspector: Inspector Ed Field submitted his resignation effective March 31, 2014.  Motion by Punter to use Michigan Township Services for building inspection needs until we hire a new one.  Motion withdrawn.

Zoning Administrator: A motion was made at a Special Meeting held on March 6, 2014 to contract with Tony Zaidel to be Ravenna Township’s new Zoning Administrator.  Tony will hold office hours on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Museum/Library: Everything is going great.  Building plaque is being made for the Library.  The Open House will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be served.  Public is invited.

Cemetery: Motion by Sherman, support by Punter to increase the foundation fee from $ .15 a square inch to $.25 a square inch.  Motion carried.

Planning Commission: Planning Commission held a joint meeting with the Township Board on March 6, 2014.  To discuss the Zoning Administration of Township.  Planning Commission will meet on May 1, 2014 to discuss our Master Plan.

Chamber of Commerce: The Township hosted the March Chamber of Commerce luncheon and after the luncheon the Chamber toured the Library.

New Business: New fee scheduled was presented.  Motion by Patterson, support by Yonker to table the new fee schedule.  Motion carried.

Unfinished Business: None.

Treasurers Report: Patterson presented Treasurer’s Report.  Motion by Punter, support by Sherman to pay all bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion carried.

Other: Punter contacted D & B Brine and gave them a map of all roads to be brined this spring.  Dump Day will be held on May 3, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Padno’s will be on site to collect all scrap metal and no individual scraping will be allowed!  Motion by Sherman, support by Punter to adopt a Proclamation declaring March is Reading Month.  Motion carried.
