RAVENNA TOWNSHIP

PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING

MINUTES

June 5, 2014

 

A meeting of the Ravenna Township Planning Commission was called to order on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 7:00 by Chairman Jack Link.  Members present were: Jack Link, Roger Peacock, Stan Wagner and Elmer Hoyle.  Mike Gillard was absent.  Zoning Administrator Tony Zaidel and 6 people were in attendance.  Pledge to the flag Elmer Hoyle.

Motion by Hoyle, support by Wagner to approve the minutes from the May 1, 2014 Planning Commission Public Hearing and Meeting.  Motion carried.

Chairman Link appointed Stan Wagner as Secretary for the Planning Commission and Ravenna Township Clerk Penny Sherman as the Recording Secretary for the Planning Commission.

Agenda was approved as presented.

Citizen’s Comments: Citizen spoke regarding the Master Plan and asked the Planning Commission include an appendix at the end of the Master Plan to include all minutes, clippings, letters etc. and also a copy of the old Master Plan.  Also asked that time and consideration be taken when working on the Master Plan.  A survey was turned in to the Planning Commission stating what a few residents in the Township would like to see done.

New Business:

Planning Commission would like to have Master Plans from Moorland, Sullivan, Polkton, Chester, Casnovia and the Village of Ravenna.  Sherman will contact these jurisdictions and ask for a copy. Roger Peacock will contact Erin Koon from West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Committee (WMSRDC) to come to a future meeting to discuss the Muskegon Area Plan and procedures needed for developing and reviewing our Master Plan.  The Master Plan that the Planning Commission will be working on will not be including the village.  A list will be compiled of Master Plan Discussion Categories.  These Categories will be: Zoning, Agriculture/Farming, Water Quality Study, Roads, Energy, Education and Senior Resources.

GIS has many mapping options available and will be very helpful in working on the Master Plan.

The Planning Commission will be working on a Vision Statement at the next meeting.

Old Business:

Tony Zaidel has sent out a Cease and Desist order to a resident.

Next Planning Commission will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
