RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD
BUDGET WORKSHOP MEETING MINUTES
June 9, 2014
The June 9, 2014 Budget workshop meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Ken Punter. Pledge to the Flag was led by Marlene Curtis. Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle. Members present were: Ken Punter, Supervisor; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle and Bruce Yonker, Trustees; Greg Crowley, Fire Chief; and two citizens. Motion by Yonker, support by Hoyle to approve the minutes from the May 5, 2014 Township Board Meeting. Motion carried. Motion by Yonker, support by Hoyle to approve the agenda with one addition (amendment of Fire Budget) and listed the time on the agenda to 6:30 p.m. Motion carried.
Citizens Comments: Funds need to be available to the Planning Commission as expenses could occur while working on the Master Plan. Also, roads are a concern to residents.
New Business: Sherman gave a current Township Budget update. Motion by Sherman, support by Patterson to amend the current Township budget as follows: Legislative (Legal Fees $4,250.16 and Dues & Memberships $763.74), Financial Administration (Clerk’s Transportation $9.50 and Treasurer’s Transportation $9.50), Appointed Personnel (Ordinance Enforcement Officer Contracted Services $1,151.95), Elections $26.13, Cemetery (Misc-fuel $190.07), Township Hall (Technology $1,529.94 and Capital Outlay $172.90) and Museum/Library (Library Savings for payment $6,000 and Library Donation Purchases $2,438.54). All amendments coming from the Township Fund Balance. Motion carried. Patterson gave a current Fire Department budget update. Motion by Patterson, support by Sherman to amend the current Fire Department budget as follows: Utilities $1,494.68, Truck Fuel $1,950.22, Truck Repairs & Maint. $121.83, Supplies $90.10, Equipment Maint. $1,077.84. All amendments coming from the Fire Department Miscellaneous line. Motion carried.
Budget workshop proceeded. Township Revenue is budgeted at $503,650.00 and Township Expenditures are budgeted at $503,650.00. Fire Department Revenue is budgeted at $195,712.71 and Fire Department Expenditures are budgeted at $195,712.71. The Fire Department Revenue includes the 2 mills which total $158,018.90 and is included in the Township Budget.
