RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES

August 14, 2014

The August meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Ken Punter. Pledge to the Flag was led by Marlene Curtis.  Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle.  Members present were:  Ken Punter, Supervisor; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle Trustee; Greg Crowley, Fire Chief; and two residents.  Trustee Bruce Yonker was absent.  Motion by Hoyle, support by Patterson to approve Agenda.  Motion carried.  Motion by Sherman, support by Patterson to approve minutes from the June 19, 2014 Public Hearing and Special Meeting, July 10, 2014 Township Board Meeting and the August 12, 2014 Special Meeting.  Motion carried.

Citizens Comments: Resident inquired about building a new house on Farr Road and removing the existing home.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Assessor: Everything is going fine.

Fire Board:  Call report: 9 Medicals and 8 Fires (1 assist to Conklin and 1 assist to Coopersville).  The Pig Roast held during Dog Daze went very well and the proceeds were used to purchase 5 new pagers.  Twelve Firemen have been fitted for new gear.  Fire Department is looking at a tanker from Casnovia Fire Department.  People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits.   Address signs are available to purchase for $20.00, if anyone is interested they should call the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.

Building Inspector: Two permits were issued.

Museum/Library: Cameras have been installed and the software is working great.  The people doing the vandalism have been caught.  The Mad Hatters Tea Party was very well attended.

Cemetery: Ravenna Township would like to that the Ravenna High School JV and Varsity Football teams for helping paint the Cemetery fence.   A Girl Scout Troop will be collecting the flags at the cemetery and distributing them during the Memorial Day Parade along with the Boy Scouts.

Planning Commission: A Public Hearing and Meeting was held on 8-7-14 for two Special Use applications and two Boundary Line Adjustments.  All were approved.  Next meeting will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

Zoning Administrator: No report.

Chamber of Commerce: Met on August 12, 2014.  Sherman and Hoyle attended.  Dr. Cameron spoke and introduced the new dentists that purchased his practice.  The Ravenna Township Board wishes Dr. Cameron all the best.

Road Commission: Replacement of the culvert on Seba Road has begun.

New Business: Motion by Patterson, support by Hoyle to approve a 5 year Audit Renewal agreement with Brickley DeLong.  Motion carried.  Motion by Punter, support by Patterson to table any action on the Caboose that will be placed along the Musketawa Trail until further information is received.  Motion carried.

Unfinished Business: Brining has been completed.  Punter will contact D & B Brining to make sure Cline Road was brined.

Treasurer’s Report:  Patterson presented Treasurer’s report.  Motion by Hoyle, support by Sherman to pay all bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion carried.

The Ravenna Township Board would like to thank Sandy Patterson, JoAnn Beechnau and Paula Port for all of the work they did on the landscaping!!!  It looks beautiful!
