RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES
August 11, 2016
The August meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ravenna Township Hall by Supervisor Ken Punter. Pledge to the Flag was led by John Bonthuis. Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle. Members present were: Ken Punter, Supervisor; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Bruce Yonker, Trustee and Elmer Hoyle, Trustee. Also present was Fire Chief Greg Crowley, and 3 residents. Motion by Hoyle, support by Yonker to approve the Agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Yonker, support by Hoyle to approve the minutes from the July 14, 2016 Township Board Meeting. Motion carried.
Citizens Comments: None.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Assessor: July Board of Review went very well.
Fire Board: Call report: 8 Medicals, 2 Fires (1 assist to Dalton) and 3 P.I. accidents (1 assist to Conklin). Dispatch rates will be going up. Consumers Energy will no longer be issuing house numbers and Central Dispatch will be distributing forms to help with the numbering of houses. An application has been received from Brian Mann to join the Ravenna Area Fire Department. Kuperus Excavating has been paid for work done on a structure fire. Reimbursement for this expense will come from the homeowner’s insurance. People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits. Address signs are available to purchase for $20.00, if anyone is interested they should call the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.
Building Inspector: Twelve permits were issued: 6 Building, 3 Electrical, 2 Mechanical and 1 Plumbing.
Museum/Library: Everything is going well. The MADL millage request passed at the August 2nd Election.
Cemetery: Vandalism has taken place in the Cemetery. The police have been notified and will be policing the grounds on a regular basis.
Planning Commission: The Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing and Meeting on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.
Zoning Administrator: ZA has been very busy with inquiries.
Chamber of Commerce: The Chamber of Commerce met on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Ravenna Township Office.
Ravenna Area Historical Society: The Annual Audit has been completed and went very well.
Road Commission: Hoyle and Punter will meet with Ken Hulka next week regarding safety concerns for some of our intersections.
New Business: The possibility of doing a second brining was discussed. Punter will contact MCS and get a price regarding doing a second brining.
Unfinished Business: None.
Treasurer’s Report: Patterson presented the Treasurer’s report. Motion by Sherman, support by Hoyle to pay bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
Public Comment: None.
Correspondence: An invitation from ARC regarding a community luncheon was presented.
The Township Audit has been completed and went well. Brickley DeLong will be contacting the Office to set up a date and time to go over the Audit outcome.
