RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES
December 11, 2014
The December meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Ken Punter. Pledge to the Flag was led by 1st Class Scout Archer Deur. Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle. Members present were: Ken Punter, Supervisor; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle and Bruce Yonker, Trustees; also present were Greg Crowley, Fire Chierf; 1st Class Scout Archer Deur and 2 residents. Agenda was approved with one addition: Technology. Motion by Hoyle, support by Yonker to approve the minutes from the November 13, 2014 Township Board Meeting. Motion carried.
Citizens Comments: None.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Assessor: The Assessor’s will be taking some time off for the winter and have contracted with another Assessor to fill in for them in their absence.
Fire Board: Call report: 14 Medicals, 1 P.I. 1 Fire and 2 Wire Down calls. Hydraulic pump on truck 1820 has burnt up and needs to be repaired. The price will be approximately $1900.00. Santa came to town on December 7, 2014 and it was a huge success!!! People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits. Address signs are available to purchase for $20.00, if anyone is interested they should call the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.
Building Inspector: 8 permits were issued (1 building, 5 electrical and 2 mechanical).
Museum/Library: Library is decorated beautifully for the Christmas season. Fireplace isn’t working correctly and the manufacturer has been notified. MADL is reviewing the annual report and will be contacting the Township soon regarding the amount of reimbursement we will be receiving.
Cemetery: Everything is going fine. Fence is being repaired.
Planning Commission: Planning Commission met on November 17, 2014 and worked on updates to the Master Plan.
Zoning Administrator: Zoning Administrator is looking into whether the correct permits were applied for regarding a parcel on Moorland and Hile.
Chamber of Commerce: Sherman and Patterson attended the Chamber Christmas Party that was held on December 9, 2014.
Road Commission: Deed has been received for the Rollenhagen Road property.
New Business: Upgrade of technology was discussed. Motion by Patterson, support by Sherman to hire Jeff Sickles to update and purchase software and equipment needed to upgrade technology at the Township Office for a cost not to exceed $4000.00. Motion carried 4-0, Punter abstained because Sickles is his son-in-law.
Unfinished Business: Historical Society was tabled until the January meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Patterson presented Treasurer’s report. Motion by Patterson, support by Sherman to pay bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
Public Comment: None.
Motion by Punter, support by Yonker to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
