The February meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ravenna Township Hall by Supervisor Elmer Hoyle. Pledge to the Flag was led by Supervisor Hoyle. Prayer was led by Clerk Penny Sherman.  Members present were:  Elmer Hoyle, Supervisor; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; and Bruce Yonker, Trustee.  Trustee John Bonthuis was absent.  Also present were Fire Chief Greg Crowley and three residents.  Motion by Hoyle, support by Patterson to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.   Motion by Yonker, support by Hoyle to approve the minutes from the January 11, 2018 meeting.  Motion carried.

Citizens Comments: None.


Assessor: The March Board of Review will be held on March 12th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and March 13th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Fire Board:  Call report:  12 Medicals and 3 Fires (1 assist to Coopersville and 1 assist to Fruitport).   The battery charger in Truck #1821 has died and needs to be replaced.  The cost of the replacement charger will be approximately $680.00.  The Annual Fire Department Bowling Tournament Fundraiser went very well.   Muskegon Central Dispatch 911 held an information presentation on the aging communication infrastructure critical to our public safety agencies and citizens for the area Fire Chiefs.  There will be two additional informational meetings for municipal leaders on Wednesday, February 14th at 2:30 p.m. and on Thursday, February 15th at 7:00 p.m.  People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits.   Address signs are available to purchase for $20.00, if anyone is interested they should call the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.

Building Inspector: Two permits were issued: 1 Electrical and 1 Mechanical. The 10% reimbursement check from MTS was $36.39.

Museum/Library: A new full size refrigerator has been purchased for the Librarians.  The cost of refrigerator was $500.00.  A new ceiling fan has been purchased and is in the process of being installed.  Three desk chairs and a cabinet with a lock have been purchased for the new maker space area.  Greg Crowley will talk to someone about having them come out and talk to the librarians about different 3D  printers.  The book sale will be done at the end of the week.  The outside light has been repaired.

Cemetery:  Everything is going fine.

Planning Commission: The Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing and Meeting on Monday, February 19th at 7:00 p.m. for 2 Special Use Applications.

Zoning Administrator:   Everything is going fine.

Chamber of Commerce:  The next Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 13th.

Ravenna Area Historical Society:  They are continuing to enter data into the computer.

Road Commission and Road update: The next Road Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 21st.

Senior Citizen’s Activity Coordinator:  The February 6th Senior Citizens Luncheon was cancelled due weather.  Senior Citizen’s Activity Coordinator Peggy Manzer has organized an outing for February 20th to go to the Asian Buffet.

New Business: Sherman gave a budget update.  Motion by Sherman, support by Patterson to amend the budget $2500.00 for Senior Citizen Activity Coordinator.  Motion carried.

Unfinished Business:  None.

Treasurers Report: Patterson presented the Treasurer’s report.  Motion by Sherman, support by Yonker to pay all bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion carried.

Other Board Comments: Approximately 12 people attended the January 23rd meeting with the Drain Commissioner that was held here.  A letter was received from The Ink Link describing their new business.

Public Comment: None.

Motion by Yonker, support by Patterson to adjourn meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
