RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES
January 8, 2015
The January meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Ken Punter. Pledge to the Flag was led by Fire Chief Greg Crowley. Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle. Members present were: Ken Punter, Supervisor; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle and Bruce Yonker, Trustees; and Greg Crowley, Fire Chief. Motion by Yonker, support by Hoyle to approve Agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Hoyle, support by Patterson to approve the minutes from the December 11, 2014 meeting. Motion carried.
Citizens Comments: None.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Assessor: Sue Bowen is filling in as our Assessor and will be holding office hours on Mondays from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Fire Board: Call report: 16 Medicals and 4 Fires (1 assist to Moorland). There were 196 calls in 2014. The Annual Fire Department Benefit Bowling Tournament will be held on January 31, 2015 at the Ravenna Bowl. People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits. Address signs are available to purchase for $20.00, if anyone is interested they should call the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.
Building Inspector: 5 permits were issued (2 electrical and 3 mechanical).
Museum/Library: Everything is going fine.
Cemetery: Everything is going fine.
Planning Commission: Planning Commission met on December 15, 2014 and worked on updates to the Master Plan.
Zoning Administrator: No report.
Chamber of Commerce: Will meet on January 13,, 2015.
Road Commission: Will meet on January 21, 2015. Access to Rollenhagen Road was discussed.
New Business: None.
Unfinished Business: Historical Society was discussed. Motion by Sherman, support by Yonker to appoint Patterson as the township board representative on the Ravenna Township Historical Society board. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Patterson presented Treasurer’s report. Motion by Patterson, support by Yonker to pay bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried. Dot net was discussed. Sickles Consulting reported that in 2014 our website had 2816 users. Our website address is www.ravennatwp.com.
Correspondence: The Annual Ravenna Township Dump Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Ravenna Livestock Sale parking lot. Padno’s will also be there for any scrap metal collection and all proceeds from the scrap metal collection will be used to offset the cost of Dump Day. Sherman received notification that because Muskegon County did not have a current Emergency Operations Plan our request for state disaster assistance from the April 12, 2014 storm was denied. Muskegon County is meeting with Lansing to see if this decision can be reversed. Library reimbursement from MADL will be increased due to the Library Expansion, we will receive a total of $15,001.92 this year up from $4,524.00 that was received last year.
