RAVENNA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES

March 3, 2016

The March meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was called to order on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ravenna Township Hall by Supervisor Ken Punter. Pledge to the Flag was led by Punter. Prayer was led by Trustee Elmer Hoyle.  Members present were:  Ken Punter, Supervisor; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Bruce Yonker, Trustee and Elmer Hoyle, Trustee.  Also present were Fire Chief Greg Crowley, and three residents.  Motion by Patterson, support by Yonker to approve the Agenda.  Motion carried.  Motion by Hoyle, support by Yonker to approve the minutes from the February 11, 2016 Regular Township Board Meeting.  Motion carried.

Citizens Comments: Resident was present to state that her assessment had been mailed in with two other relatives to one of their homes.  We will talk to the Assessors and ask that they double check the mailings.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Assessor: Assessment notices have been mailed out.  Board of Review will be held on Monday March 14, 2016 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and Tuesday March 15, 2016 from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Fire Board:  Call report:  10 Medicals, 2 P.I. accidents and 3 Fires (1 assist to Conklin and 1 assist to Egelston). The parts to repair Fire Truck 1821 have been ordered.  The Fire Department will be hosting the Fish Fry at St. Catherine’s Hall on Friday, March 4, 2016.  The Preschoolers from St. Catherine’s will be touring the Fire Department, Township Hall and also be talking to the Ambulance personnel on March 29th.  People interested in a burn permit may go the web site: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits.   Address signs are available to purchase for $20.00, if anyone is interested they should call the Township Hall at 231-853-6205.

Building Inspector: No report.

Museum/Library: The Library is celebrating March is Reading Month.

Cemetery:  Spring clean-up will begin soon.

Planning Commission: The Planning Commission will be holding a Public Hearing and Meeting on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

Zoning Administrator:  Everything is going fine.

Chamber of Commerce: Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

Ravenna Area Historical Society:  Will meet on March 17th.

Road Commission: The February 17th meeting of the Muskegon County Road Commission has been cancelled.  Punter spoke with Ken Hulka of the MCRC and Dean Lynn from MTI regarding the MTI sign that has been installed.

New Business: Punter spoke to Sullivan Supervisor Tony Mabrito and received a verbal okay stating that they will cost share the price of brining Ensley Road.  Punter has set up a meeting with Brad Harkness from Michigan Chloride Sales, LLC to discuss brining our Township.  Patterson presented the Fire Department Budget.  Motion by Patterson, support by Sherman to amend the equipment line $226.19 which will be deducted from the payroll line.  Sherman presented the Township Budget and no amendments are needed at this time.

Unfinished Business:  None.

Treasurers Report: Patterson presented the Treasurer’s report.  Motion by Hoyle, support by Yonker to pay bills and accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion carried.

The County Commissioners will host District Meetings on Recreational Partnership in March. The meeting for our District is scheduled for March 16th at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Inn in Fruitport.
