RAVENNA TOWNSHIP

SPECIAL MEETING

November 3, 2014

A Special Meeting of the Ravenna Township Board was held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Ken Punter.  Members present were: Punter; Sonja Patterson, Treasurer; Penny Sherman, Clerk; Elmer Hoyle, Trustee; Bruce Yonker, Trustee; and 3 residents.  The purpose of the special meeting was to discuss Ravenna Township’s options regarding the petition of the Muskegon County Road Commission for the Road/Right-of-Way abandonment of the last 600 feet of Rollenhagen Road where it ends on the North side of Crockery Creek.  Three options were discussed: 1.  The Township gains ownership of the property and it can be available for public use such as walking or fishing.  2.  The property could revert back to the landowners.  3.  The DNR could say they would like to gain rights to the property.  After much discussion a Motion was made by Punter, supported by Patterson to recommend to the Muskegon County Road Commission that Ravenna Township gain ownership of the property and use it for a footpath.  Motion carried.  If the Road Commission agrees to this, the Township will revisit this decision within two years to see how the property is being utilized and if there are any concerns by township residents or adjoining property owners.  Meeting adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
