RAVENNA TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION

PUBLIC HEARING AND MEETING

MINUTES

April 17, 2017

 

A Public Hearing and Meeting of the Ravenna Township Planning Commission was called to order on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 7:00 by Vice Chairman Roger Peacock.  Members present were:  Peacock, Mike Gillard, Stanley Wagner and Bruce Yonker.  Also present were Zoning Administrator Anne Lewis, Recording Secretary Penny Sherman and 4 guests. Chairman Jack Link was absent.  Pledge to the flag was said.

Motion by Peacock to open the Public Hearing at 7:05 p.m., support by Wagner. Motion carried.

Purpose of the Public Hearing was to present and discuss a Special Use Applications that has been received by Kelly Eadie.

Kelly Eadie would like to open a daycare facility in her home. The property is owned by Robert Markowski, Jr. and is located at 9600 Ellis Road, Ravenna, MI  49451.

Kelly Eadie, who has worked in a local daycare for facility for over 4 years, fielded questions regarding the proposed daycare facility which included placement of the play equipment and driveway safety.

Public Hearing closed at 7:31 p.m.

Vice Chairman Peacock reopened the meeting.

Motion by Gillard, support by Wagner to approve the minutes from the Public Hearing and Meeting that was held on March 20, 2017. Motion carried.  Motion by Yonker, support by Gillard to approve the Agenda with the addition of the review of 2 proposed Ordinances (Wind Energy Ordinance and Solar Energy Ordinance).  Motion carried.

Public Comment:  A resident inquired as to the requirements to build a new home on an A1 zoned parcel with less than 40 acres.

New Business: Special Use application from Kelly Eadie was discussed. Motion by Gillard, support by Wagner  to approve the Special Use Application by Kelly Eadie to allow her to open a daycare facility in her home  contingent that the play equipment be moved to the back area of the home and fenced in and also that a sign be posted that no one can back out on to Ellis Road and certifications will be placed on file at the Township.  Motion carried.  This Special Use approval for Kelly Eadie is only good for this address.

Unfinished Business: Alternative Energy Ordinances were discussed. Sherman will contact the Attorney and have him remove the suggested verbiage from the Wind Energy Ordinance.

Public Comments: None

Next meeting date will be May 15, 2017

Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
