Ravenna Township will be filling a trustee position on the Ravenna Township board by election of the voters in 2014. Ravenna township residents who meet the State of Michigan candidate requirements and the filing deadlines as listed below are eligible to add their name to the ballot:
April 22, 2014 by 4:00 p.m. Last day to file to for the primary election held on August 5th, 2014, if filing as a Republican or Democrat candidate. Withdrawal deadline elapses at 4:00 p.m. on April 25th.
July 17th, 2014 by 4:00 p.m. Last date to file qualifying petitions and Affidavit of Identity as a candidate without political party for the November general election. Withdrawal deadline elapses at 4:00 p.m. on July 21st.
August 5th, 2014 Primary Election Date.
October 6th, 2014 Last day to register for the November 4th, 2014 election.
November 4th, 2014 Michigan general election.
The election candidate receiving the most votes will assume office on November 20, 2014 and will retain that trustee position until November 19th, 2016. Thereafter, the term of office for that trustee seat will be the regular 4 year length and the next election for that seat will be in 2020.
The Township Trustee Fiduciary responsibilities are:
• Township legislator, required to vote on all issues
• Responsible for township’s fiduciary health
• Other duties as assigned by the township board.
Ravenna Township currently compensates it trustees $5,000 per year.
