The Ravenna Area Fire Department Fleet
All of our firefighters are fully trained to operate every piece of equipment in our fleet. To ensure the highest level of professionalism and readiness, our team goes well beyond the state’s minimum training requirement of 12 hours per year—completing 36 hours of training annually. Whenever possible, we also use aerial drone footage to enhance our training by capturing realistic training scenarios from above, giving our team a better perspective and improving response tactics.
Truck #1820 is the primary structural firefighting engine, built in 2001 on an Alexis Freightliner chassis, features a four-man cab designed for rapid response and crew efficiency. It is equipped with a powerful 1250 GPM pump and carries 1,000 gallons of water, making it well-suited for structural firefighting operations. In addition to its firefighting capabilities, the engine is outfitted with essential medical gear and TNT extraction equipment, including the Jaws of Life, ensuring it is fully prepared for both fire and rescue situations.
Truck #1872 is our main truck for medical emergencies. It’s a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, built tough for quick response and reliability. It’s fully equipped with essential medical gear, including an AED (defibrillator) and a CPR compression device, helping our team provide life-saving care when every second counts.
Truck #1862, a 2007 American LaFrance, built on a Sterling chassis, is designed primarily to haul water to support structural firefighting. It plays a key role in supplying water to fire engines on scene, especially in areas without nearby hydrants, helping ensure firefighters have the water they need to do their job effectively.
Truck #1861 is a GMC truck, in service since 1990, carries 2,500 gallons of water and features a gas-powered pump mounted on the front. Its main job is to haul water in and out of fire zones, making it especially useful in remote areas. It's also equipped to help fight wildland fires, providing crucial support where access to water is limited.
Truck #1821 was put into service in 2020, was built on an Alexis Kenworth chassis and purchased brand new. It carries 3,000 gallons of water and has a powerful 1,500 GPM pump, making it a key asset for both structural and wildland firefighting. One major call where this truck proved essential was the fire at the First Reformed Church. Its size, capacity, and versatility make it a critical part of our fleet for handling large-scale fires.
Truck #1871 is a 1985 Chevrolet Suburban which holds rescue and medical equipment. The main purpose for this Traffic control and providing manpower for mutual aid for other departments.
Truck #1881, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD is primarily used to respond to wildland fires, such as grass and woodland fires. It’s equipped with a CET Fire pump skid unit that holds 300 gallons of water and features a 300 GPM pump. Designed for speed and mobility, this truck is ideal for reaching fires in rough or remote terrain where larger engines can’t go.
